hobbygame.dev domain
hobbygamedev is publicly shared via Free DNS, a dynamic-DNS sharing project where people can set up their own subdomains to point to their webserver/computer in real time. This will be long‐term — hobbygame.dev is already registered until 2035.
So head over there if you want your own free devlog/game domain like this one:
but… HTTPS is required
and FreeDNS’s url-forwarding won’t work.
Chrome has decided that all domains ending in .dev must use HTTPS rather than HTTP. Other browsers, such as Firefox, use Chrome’s list and are also forcing use of HTTPS, so your website will have to support HTTPS in order to use the domain.
The “Web Forward” feature provided by FreeDNS relies on HTTP, so I don’t recommend using it for any hobbyGame.dev subdomains. The url-forwarding still seems to work on my mobile phone, but I’ve never seen it work on a desktop browser.
Optional webring
A way to list your site, for anyone who's curious about fellow hobbygame sites.
